You may have seen the wonderful concept that is Hemming’s Gin in the shop or on our social media and have always wanted to know a bit more about it. Fear not as SplitSmiths are here to quench your thirst for knowledge.
Hemming’s story began in the Staffordshire Moorlands in 2019. After having a passion for imbibing and the distillation of gin they thought that they should look at producing their own.
The major thing you will have noticed is the vessel the product is sold in. They wanted to create something that would differentiate them from the rest of the bottles on the shelves. Not only eye catching, more importantly it’s environmentally friendly.
The team at Hemming’s did months of research in order to find the perfect bottle. They found it in the shape of an insulated bottle that could not only store gin but could also be reused and keep your tea hot or your gin martini cold for hours on end.
You also have the option of purchasing a refill pouch as an economical way of topping up your bottle!
The gin is doubled distilled in a column still. This method helps to achieve a high percentage of abv which reduces the amount of impurities in the gin. The botanicals used include juniper, lemon peel, mint, coriander, cardamom and chamomile.
The gin is wonderfully balanced with a subtle hint of juniper which leads into a freshness from the lemon peel and floral notes from the camomile.
It is recommended as an everyday gin to enjoy with a gin and tonic but it is produced to such a high standard it works well as a treat on a Friday night. Here at SplitSmiths we recommend enjoying it as an English Garden Cocktail.
